![]() The Emergency Food and Shelter Program was created by Congress to help meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States and its territories by allocating federal funds for the provision of food and shelter. The Emergency Food and Shelter program is a rapid response program, and the local board typically has 35-90 days from the time an award is announced at the National level to submit our local board plan. Application deadlines are firm.
