
Phase 40 Information Jennings County has been awarded $5,453 in Phase 40 federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) funds through the Department of Homeland Security and Federal Emergency Management Agency, as appropriated by Congress through the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2022 funding. The funds are for the Jennings EFSP Board to supplement local food, shelter, rent/mortgage, and utility assistance programs. Eligible agencies provide proven services in these areas. LRO's are required to participate in LRO training available online. At least two representatives from each LRO must participate in the training each phase. Phase 40 Award Announcement and Information Applications due from qualified organizations by Jennings County has been notified that it will be awarded a total of $5,453, for Phase 40 in federal Emergency Food and Shelter Program (EFSP) funds through the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, as appropriated by Congress through the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act, 2022 funding. The National Board consists of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and, United Way Worldwide. A Local Board comprised of representatives of these National Agencies is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help supplement food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. More about the national program is available online at www.efsp.unitedway.org The Local Board will determine how the funds awarded to Jennings County are to be distributed among local qualifying agencies. The Jennings County Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP) Board is encouraging local agencies that meet requirements to apply for the funds. Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive Federal funds, 3) have an adequate accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, have an active voluntary board of directors. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Agencies interested in applying must participate a required LRO training available online. Application will be available on this website. All agencies applying for EFSP funds must provide their Unique Entity ID and FEIN in their applications. Any nonprofit, faith-based or local government agency that provides food and shelter services may apply for funds in all phases. Interested agencies must submit an application to the Local Board in the jurisdiction where they are providing services. EFSP funds must be used to supplement food and shelter services and may not be used as seed money for new programs.
