Applications due from qualified organizations by April 11, 2022. Jennings County has been notified that it will be awarded a total of $32,806 The National Board consists of the U. S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency, American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the USA; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and, United Way Worldwide. A Local Board is charged to distribute funds appropriated by Congress to help supplement food and shelter programs in high-need areas around the country. More about the national program is available online at www.efsp.unitedway.org The Local Board will determine how the funds awarded to Jennings County are to be distributed among local qualifying agencies. The Jennings County Emergency Food & Shelter Program (EFSP) Board is encouraging local agencies that meet requirements to apply for the funds. Under the terms of the grant from the National Board, local agencies chosen to receive funds must: 1) be private voluntary non-profits or units of government, 2) be eligible to receive Federal funds, 3) have an adequate accounting system, 4) practice nondiscrimination, 5) have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs, and 6) if they are a private voluntary organization, have an active voluntary board of directors. Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Agencies interested in applying must participate a required virtual training on January 19, 2022. Details will be posted on the Local EFSP Website efsp.jcunitedway.org The program is administered by Jennings County United Way, 707 N State St., North Vernon IN 47265, 812.346.5257. The deadline for applications to be received is firm. Late applications are not considered for funding. Nonprofit organizations or public agencies interested in applying for funds may submit questions or apply online now.
All agencies applying for EFSP funds must provide their DUNS number and FEIN in their applications. Any nonprofit, faith-based or local government agency that provides food and shelter services may apply for funds in all phases. Interested agencies must submit an application to the Local Board in the jurisdiction where they are providing services. EFSP funds must be used to supplement food and shelter services and may not be used as seed money for new programs. The key responsibility of participating organizations is to provide assistance within the intent of the program.
